Nearly Half of Sellers Are Sweetening the Deal Right Now

If you're thinking about selling this year, here's a number worth noting: 46.2% of home sales this spring included seller concessions, the highest share of any spring since Redfin started tracking in 2019.

Nearly half of sellers this spring gave buyers something extra to close the deal.

The Number

According to Redfin's Spring 2026 Seller Concessions Report, 46.2% of spring 2026 home sales included seller concessions, up from 43.1% a year earlier.

What's Behind This

A "concession" is separate from cutting list price. Concessions typically look like:

  • Contributing toward closing costs

  • Covering repairs found during inspection

  • Buying down the mortgage rate

Why the increase? Nationally, there are currently 47% more sellers than buyers. That imbalance shifts leverage toward buyers, and sellers are responding with concessions instead of price cuts.

What This Means for You

Knowing this trend before you list is an advantage. We can build your pricing and negotiation strategy with concessions in mind from day one, instead of reacting to buyer requests after an offer lands.

A smart concession strategy can:

  • Keep your list price and home value strong

  • Make your listing competitive in a buyer-leaning market

  • Help you close faster with fewer surprises
